St. Tammany Parish paraprofessional Tiffany Brinson was named the winner of a Louisiana Federation of Teachers PSRP Scholarship at the Federation's Paraprofessional and School Related Personnel Conference, held on February 7, 2009 at the Baton Rouge Marriott Hotel. Brinson is a paraprofessional at Whispering Forest Elementary School.
The $500 scholarship is awarded to school employees who are working to become certified teachers.
The annual PSRP Conference recognizes the contributions of school support staff. It includes professional development workshops, briefings on important legislative and educational issues, and awards to honor the achievements of members.
Brinson was unable to attend the conference, and St. Tammany Federation of Teachers and School Employees President Elsie Burkhalter accepted on her behalf. From left in the photo are LFT President Steve Monaghan, Burkhalter and PSRP Committee Chairperson Laura Harper.
